Jakarta, 30 April 2015. The largest travel fair of Indonesia, ASTINDO Fair 2015 held in Jakarta on 27th until 29th March 2015 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Hall C was successfully concluded. The event was participated by 150 exhibitors, comprising of 51 travel agents, 13 airlines, and 17 National Tourism Offices (NTOs) as well as hotel, travel vehicle, cruise lines, banking, assurance, travel gear, and media partners.
Present at the Official Opening of ASTINDO Fair 2015 on 27th March was Director General of Tourism Destination Development Ministry of Tourism, Dadang Rizki Ratman, and Special Staff on Economics Ministry of Transportation, Agus Edi Susilo.
Chairman of Committee of ASTINDO Fair 2015, Anto Haditono, reported the total of visitors of ASTINDO Fair 2015 reached 50,176 people in three-day fair with total transaction of Rp. 130 billion. “We are quite content with this year’s significant achievement as we recorded an increase of sales transaction of 30% compared to last year’s ASTNDO Fair, eventhough number of visitor does not reach our target. This amount is resulted from the sales of tickets and international and domestic tour packages.” Anto said.
During the three-day expo, most of the visitors purchased many vacation packages, special packages and airline tickets at a price promotion in accordance with the selected destination, but some are looking for references vacation sparingly.
“Japan has become number one favorite overseas destination at this year’s ASTINDO Fair. One of the factors prompting this trend is visa-free facility for Indonesians holding e-passports. Following Japan, other overseas destination which mostly chosen is Europe. The declining Euro has influenced the tour package to European countries which now has become more affordable. Paris, Rome and Netherlands are top list destinations of Indonesians when travelling to Europe,” Anto continued.
“Bali is still the most favorite domestic travel destination at ASTINDO Fair this year due to its unbeatable potentials and accessibility as most airlines fly to the island, followed by Lombok,” Anto went on.
Chairman of the Association Air Ticket Sales Indonesia (ASTINDO), Elly Hutabarat, said that, the success of the ASTINDO Fair 2015 were contributed from the good cooperation between all members of ASTINDO, Association of Indonesian Tours & Travel Agent (ASITA) Jakarta, National Tourism Offices (NTOs), supporting industries such as banking, insurance, media partners, and Pacto Convex as the event organizer. “ASTINDO Fair, formerly ASTINDO International Travel Fair, is the first consumer fair which is fully organized by ASTINDO and have become our annual calendar. This is year is the fifth time of Astindo Fair,” Elly said.
“From year to year, we see the public interest to ASTINDO Fair has grown significantly. This event is able to make a positive contribution, especially to increase public interest to travel. In the coming future, we plan to expand ASTINDO Fair by holding it in the major cities in Indonesia as to accommodate the growing needs of tourism industry and public to travel. We also plan to present more international and domestic travel destinations at the fair since we do have tourism destination potentiality and a large number of travelers,“ Elly concluded.
Following Jakarta, ASTINDO Fair will be held in Surabaya for the second time on 23rd to 26th April 2015 at Grand City Mall.
Some National Tourism Offices (NTOs) participating at ASTINDO Fair 2015 gave positive comments on the interest of visitors who purchased tour packages offered during the exhibition. During the event, 17 NTOs promoted and provided the latest information on their tourism destinations to visitors.
The attending NTOs were China, Dubai, Fiji, Hong Kong, Japan, East Kalimantan, Cirebon Palace, Tanjung Lesung, Korea, Lombok-Sumbawa, Macau, New Zealand, Philippines, Sabah, Sarawak, Thailand, and Turkey.
Thirteen leading airlines participated at this year’s ASTINDO Fair, namely All Nippon Airways (ANA), Cathay Pacific Airways, China Airlines, Emirates, Eva Air, Garuda Indonesia, Malaysian Airlines, Qantas Airways, Qatar Airways, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, and Turkish Airlines.
ASTINDO Fair 2015 was supported by the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Tourism, ASITA Jakarta. BCA as the Official Bank provided some benefits for their credit card holders, i.e. cash back for every purchase of Jakarta – Singapore return tickets by Singapore Airlines, cash back of Rp. 300,000, double miles for BCA Reward exchange to KrisFlyer and Garuda miles, and 0% Installment for 6 months. Other official supporters of ASTINDO Fair 2015 also included AIG Insurance Indonesia as Travel Insurance Sponsor providing free travel insurance for all types of international and domestic tickets purchased during ASTINDO Fair 2015 and Trac as Official Transportation. Galileo, Abacus, and Coca-Cola Amatil were also among the supporters of this year’s ASTINDO Fair.
